Hidden Garden and the Natural Choices Botanica School are co-hosting a virtual Afro-Botany Research Seminar . Our purpose is to offer accessible, traditional style-learning online, using Africana methodology together with modern technical possibilities. We provide a safe, academic environment for personal exploration, relationship building and advancement of our brand new field.
Students from anywhere in the world, with any level of study or experience, call in to our weekly research seminar. The classes are 1 ½ hours, held weekly, by semester, using the Zoom digital platform. There is a Google Classroom which accompanies the seminar, in which class recordings are provided, as well as resources and assignments.
Each week we present a topic for discussion and students share their research results and personal Afro-Botany experiences. We may also share songs, prayers, stories and more. Current topics of study include Pan-Diasporic Health Terminology, Holistic Wellness Traditions Context, Sickle Cell Anemia, International Public Health Models, Slavery Systems, Decolonization and African Traditional Medicine.
If you would like to join the class, please send us an email at info@hiddengarden.co, and we will add you to the Google Classroom, where you will find instructions for calling into the seminar. This class is part of a consortium conservation project to protect Afro-descendant wellness traditions.
