Intro to Shamanism
Throughout history, cultures worldwide have incorporated shamanic practices into their daily lives, using techniques ranging from the use of plant medicine to sweatlodges to music and storytelling. The linking thread of all these practices is their nourishing and strengthening of the spirit, and their use of altered states of consciousness. Intention is the framework for energy we put out into the universe. The use of intention, then, is a revelation in how we interact with ourselves and our experiences.
In this workshop, there will be a brief introduction to the history, science, and practice of shamanism, specifically core shamanism, and several journeys into the shamanic state of consciousness – you will learn how to use drums and shakers to enter into the realm of spirit, find your spirit guide, and journey for yourself and others. Pipe ceremony to follow (smoking optional).
As this workshop series progresses, we’ll discuss archetypes and their similarities from person to person, as well as taking a more in depth look at dream work, animal totems, dance, sound, group intention and journeying with more than two people.
