Welcome to the Hidden Garden Botanical Database

Hidden Garden has been collecting plants since 2002. Since that time we have been trying to find the “correct” names for the plants and document their uses. We have done our best to make the information in our botanical database accurate, but it is always best to check a few different sources if you want to be sure.

Please keep in mind that common names can easily cause confusion. If you hear about a plant named Zorillo, in our garden in may be one of three plants with that name. Also, there are many plants which look alike but are unrelated and then there are plants which are closely related but one is food (a potato) and one is poison (trumpet flower).

Many of our plants are becoming more rare in their natural habitats and in home gardens. If you would like to donate to our botanical conservation program, your donation will be used to plant more endangered plants and to provide local people with free seedlings to take home to plant.
